ArcLight Connects, a New Tastemakers Series, Debuts in Chicago

ArcLight Cinemas is partnering with Chicago’s top cultural influencers to bring you the ultimate movie experience in a new program ArcLight Connects. Chicagoans can join local tastemakers – from a former Chicago Bear to a celebrated celebrity chef – to watch a movie and discover ArcLight Cinemas. The limited-time series will feature: NFL veteran, former Chicago Bear and ESPN Radio personality Tom Waddle; hosts from The ChicagonistaLIVE Show – MJ Tam, Beth Rosen and Nancy Loo; local tech and lifestyle entrepreneurs Katy Lynch, Jessica Zweig and Theresa Carter; and celebrity chef Stephanie Izard. ArcLight Connects launches on Tuesday, September 27 at ArcLight Cinemas – Chicago located at NEWCITY in Lincoln Park and will run monthly through December.

ArcLight Connects local fans with film and allows them to have a shared movie experience with some of their favorite Chicagoans. Each featured ArcLight Connects Host will choose a film – a personal favorite or a film relevant to their area of expertise – to watch with guests and participate in a Q&A following the screening. Afterwards, guests can enjoy a Meet & Greet with the ArcLight Connects Host in ArcLight’s modern-designed café and bar.

September: Tom Waddle
Date: Tuesday, September 27th
Time: 6:30pm-9:30pm
Movie: The Magnificent Seven

Waddle is a former NFL player who spent his entire five-year career (1989-1994) with the Chicago Bears. Waddle is the current co-host of “Waddle and Silvy” on ESPN 1000 and Football Analyst for WLS-TV in Chicago.

October: The ChicagonistaLIVE Show Hosts
Date: Wednesday, October 26th
Time: 6:30pm-9:30pm
Movie: Keeping Up with the Joneses

The ChicagonistaLIVE Show hosts are a group of Chicago-based top media mavens who lead an innovative and interactive social talk show. The show is run by MJ Tam (editor at ‪Chicagonista.com‬), Beth Rosen (editor at ‪Boomfluent.com‬‬) and Nancy Loo (Reporter, Fill-in Anchor at WGN-TV). The hosts discuss wide ranging Chicago-centric topics from events, restaurants, and things to do around town, to social media and tech news. ‬

November: Biz Tech Entrepreneur Panel

Katy Lynch is a Scottish-born marketer and entrepreneur. Starting her marketing career in 2008, Lynch was the Head of Social Media of Where I’ve Been, Facebook’s largest travel application. Most recently, she was the CEO of Techweek, the nation’s largest traveling technology festival. She has been included in Crain’s Tech 50, has been named a Chicago Entrepreneur to Follow on Snapchat, and has been placed on Thrillist’s Top 50 Twitter Feeds To Follow.

Jessica Zweig is one of Chicago’s most recognized women entrepreneurs, known for creating businesses, audiences, conversations and movements. In 2008, she founded Chicago’s largest digital lifestyle magazine for women, CheekyChicago.com, publishing more than 100 monthly articles, reaching more than 100,000 local millennial women and capturing some of the most prolific global brands as clients. Zweig has spent the recent part of her consulting career working for lifestyle brand, DreamTrips, designing, launching and scaling its hyper-local innovation product.

Theresa Carter is the founder and publisher of The Local Tourist, an online regional resource based in Chicago with satellite sites in Milwaukee and San Diego. After moving to Chicago in 2001, she quickly fell in love with her new city. Carter was one of the inaugural bloggers for ChicagoNow.com and was Answers.com’s Chicago Expert. She currently contributes to 1000TravelTips.com and she has recently launched a series of ebook guides, available on Amazon, iBooks, Barnes & Noble, and several other online retailers. Carter has also created and hosted more than 60 signature Chef’s Table events and 15 AlphaBeer events.

December: Stephanie Izard

Movie: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Stephanie Izard, James Beard “Best Chef: Great Lakes” recipient 2013, and 2011 Food & Wine “Best New Chef,” is the Executive Chef/Partner of three Chicago restaurants, Girl & the Goat, Little Goat, and Duck Duck Goat. A 2011 James Beard “Best New Restaurant” nominee, Girl & the Goat has been praised by high-profile publications such as Saveur, The New York Times, Food & Wine, Better Homes and Gardens and others. Izard was the first woman to win Bravo’s Top Chef (Season 4/2008) and is the only winner of the original version of the show to take the title of “Fan Favorite.” Among other recent projects, Izard has a product line called “Goat Goods,” consisting of sauces and spices available for purchase for home cooks. Izard’s first book, “Girl in the Kitchen,” was released in the fall of 2011 (Chronicle).
