On September 7, Theater on the Lake hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate renovations which will transform the performance space from a summer venue to a year-round destination featuring a new restaurant, bar and outdoor patio.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel was joined at the ribbon cutting by Alderman Michele Smith (43rd Ward), Chicago Park District Supt. Mike Kelly, and Isaac Gomez (Theater on the Lake curator, writer and director).

While the Chicago Park District will retain ownership and receive proceeds from the business, Lakefront Hospitality Group paid for $7 million rehab project and will run the restaurant and events.
