Crime-Related Information Resources
A variety of resources are available to keep residents and business owners informed of crime-related activity. Some of these resources include:
18th District Community Policing E-mail Alerts
Sign up to receive e-mail alerts directly from Sergeant Schumann from the 18th District Community Policing office by sending an e-mail request to Cynthia.Schumann@chicagopolice.org. She sends alerts about area crime activity in the 18th District. In addition, she sends a monthly newsletter containing photographs of persons who have been arrested and charged for offenses committed within the district, as well as information about upcoming events, for example, a School Supply Drive or a tour of the 911 center.
32nd Ward Alderman Scott Waguespack Newsletter
Sign up to receive Alderman Waguespack's newsletter, which includes alerts about area crime activity, by sending an e-mail to 32ndWard@gmail.com with the subject "Mail Newsletter" or by calling (773) 248-1320. You can also sign up for the newsletter via his website, www.scottforchicago.com, on the right side of the homepage. The most recent issue of the newsletter is available on his website; printed copies of the newsletter are available in his office at 2657 N. Clybourn.
43rd Ward Alderman Vi Daley Newsletter
Sign up to receive Alderman Daley' newsletter, which includes alerts about area crime activity, at www.chicago43rd.org. At the top left of the page is a space to sign up for newsletters. Archived issues of Alderman Daley's newsletters are available on the website by selecting "E-Newsletters" on the left side of the page.
City of Chicago Website
Sign up for alerts via www.cityofchicago.org. Select "City Departments" at the top of the page, and then scroll down to select "Police" from the list of departments. Find the "I Want To…" section on the left side of the page and click on "Receive Community Policing Information" to register. You also can view crime alerts posted on the website. After selecting "Police" from the list of departments, click on "Alerts & Safety Tips" on the left side of the page, and then click on "Crime Alerts," and then on your relevant district. EveryBlock ChicagoThe relatively new website www.EveryBlock.com offers easy access to recent crime activity in reverse chronological order. To view crime information, visit http://chicago.everyblock.com. Once you enter an address or pick a neighborhood, ward, street, etc., select "Crimes" from the categories on the left side of the page. This website also includes a variety of other information such as business reviews, liquor license applications, lost and found postings, real estate listings, property transfers, restaurant inspections, and street closures.
