New Ordinance Introduced to Protect City Assets

Chicago Aldermen, led by Lincoln Park Alderman Scott Waguespack (32nd), rallied together early this October to introduce a new ordinance aimed at protecting key city assets and avoiding dangerous lease deals like the widely unpopular parking meter lease.

The Public Interest Ordinance on Leasing City Assets will strengthen the tools Aldermen have in place to make sound fiscal and policy decisions.  Proposed changes include measures to help ensure the public receives fair long-term value for the assets and greater transparency is required at every step of the process.
