Sidewalk Cafe Forms Now Available
New 2010 Sidewalk Cafe Information and Application Package Available Now
In the link provided below, you will find the 2010 Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection (BACP Sidewalk Cafe Application Package. The sidewalk cafe season is from March 1st through December 1st. Applications may be submitted in person or via mail.
Since previous versions of the document will not be accepted, please download and use only BACP's new 2010 Sidewalk Cafe Program Application Package (Version 12.07.09).
Businesses with a valid Retail Food Establishment License may apply for a Sidewalk Cafe Permit to serve food outside their restaurant, on city sidewalks.
In order to be able to apply, all applicants must first hold a valid Retail Food Establishment License pursuant to Chapter 4-8 of the Municipal Code of the City of Chicago. Applicants intending to serve liquor at a Sidewalk Cafe must have a valid Liquor License pursuant to Chapter 4-60 of the Municipal Code of the City of Chicago.
Applications must be approved by the Alderman first, and then submitted to BACP's offices at City Hall, Room 800, 121 N. LaSalle, Chicago, Illinois, 60602.

Important Things to Remember:
- Photos and aldermanic approval are required
- Sidewalk permits must be renewed each year
- The timeline is 30-45 days for review and approval of a standard sidewalk cafe permit from start to finish
- The minimum fee for a sidewalk cafe permit is $600
