LPCC member Erie-LaSalle Body Shop was featured in the July 8, 2010 edition of TimeOut Chicago in the "That Retro Glow" story on vintage neon signs in Chicago. The brief write-up on Erie-LaSalle is included below:
"The car is a Plymouth," says owner Bob Gottfred, referring to the souped-up neon ride. He's gotten numerous offers to buy the 1957 sign, mainly from passing tourists who have a nostalgic affection for retro neon. But he has no plans to part with the porcelain and neon monument, which can't be reproduced because companies he's researched no longer work with porcelain. "I got one offer for $30,000," he says. "It didn't faze me."
