New Employee at Member Business Puts CEO in Check
Switchfast’s CEO James Anderson has fallen. New hire Dylan Zeigler took Anderson to the limits and broke him down in the final minutes of a recent meeting. As Anderson pounded return after return to Zeigler’s challenges, it was clear the new guy wasn’t backing down. His final challenges to the CEO proved to be overpowering and Anderson’s responses fell short. Although Anderson remains the top executive of the rapidly growing company, he is no longer the company’s number one guy at the ping-pong table.
Heading into the quarterly company meeting, it is customary for a companywide table tennis tournament to take place in the days leading up to the report with the final match taking place shortly after the meeting. As Switchfast’s headcount increases, nearly doubling in the past 18 months, new talent is emerging. Anderson’s reputation as a top performer in this tournament took a hit last week as he fell in the semi-finals to Zeigler. When asked about the defeat of his boss’ boss’ boss, Zeigler, with a tear descending from his left eye, stated, “It was emotional. I was torn. But I had to close. I expected to make something of myself at Switchfast. I never thought the opportunity would come this quickly.”
Anderson congratulated Zeigler on the defeat publicly but was unavailable for comment.
