As a board member with the Lincoln Park Community Shelter, an LPCC member, Gil Matar was charged with finding volunteers for a LPCS breakfast. A financial planner with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney and LPCC member, Matar reached out to his network - including his fellow chamber members - to serve meals. Colette Rodon Hornof (Vesta), Elizabeth Rossdeutcher (Bank Financial) and Jeff Lawler (Geja's Cafe) responded to his call.
LPCS relies heavily on the suppot of community volunteers to provide a number of services to the less fortunate in the area. In addition, the volunteers are encouraged to sit down and eat with the thirty-five shelter guests. It is a great and therapeutic opportunity for the guests to have positive interractions with people. And it is also an opportunity for the shelter to expose volunteers to the type of good work that the shelter does.
Congratulations, Gil, on this great connection. Keep up the great work! Photos of the breakfast, being held on January 20, will follow.
