LPCC Announces New Board Members, Officers

Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce Announces 2012 Board of Directors
Directors Drive Strategic Direction, Develop Programming
CHICAGO (February 20, 2012) – The Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce (LPCC) recently announced six new members for their Board of Directors. As the business landscape continues to adapt across Chicago, the LPCC’s Board of Directors will work to stay ahead of the trends in support of the Lincoln Park reputation as a destination to live, work and play.
The LPCC is committed to assisting local businesses form powerful and meaningful connections to help their business grow. The LPCC’s Board of Directors analyzes and develops programming opportunities for the Lincoln Park business community and provides valuable insight in the strategic direction of the organization.
The following business leaders have joined the LPCC Board of Directors in 2012:
• Brittany Keller, J. Alexander’s Restaurants
• Jeff Lawler, Geja’s Café
• John McLean, Burger Bar & SONO Wood Fired
• Henson Robinson, R.W. Troxell
• Eric Stern, HUB International
• Jon Stromsta, Enterprise Law Group
In addition to the approval of new directors, the LPCC Board also recently approved it Officer Slate for the coming year. Returning to the following roles on the LPCC’s Executive Committee are:
• Christine Ramsey, Chairman (Lincoln Park Massage Spa)
• Carrie McAteer-Fournier, Chair – External Affairs (DePaul University Career Center)
• Erika Kohler, Chair – Internal Affairs (Lincoln Park Zoo)
• Patrick Karpowicz, Secretary & Treasurer (Graff Ballauer and Blanksi)
• Colette Rodon Hornof, Board Member At-Large (Vesta)
The LPCC’s Governance Committee was responsible for the Board development and recruitment process, working to tap active representatives in the Lincoln Park community. The slate of new directors was approved by the LPCC’s membership at the annual State of the Ward Luncheon and Annual Meeting while the Officer Slate was approved by a unanimous vote of the LPCC Board at their February meeting.
“Our Board of Directors represent many of the outstanding businesses found in Lincoln Park from a diverse range of industries, business sizes and experience,” said Kim Schilf, LPCC President and CEO. “The LPCC leverages this collective experience to better serve our members and the Lincoln Park business community.
“The Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce recognizes that the face of business is changing – both locally and globally,” Schilf said. “As we develop new programming and initiatives, we are working to develop relationships for local businesses and assist them in marketing their products and services to today’s consumer.”
The Lincoln Park community stands at a bit of a crossroads; with the continued redevelopment of the former Lincoln Park Hospital, DePaul’s 10-year modernization plan and the imminent departure of Children’s Memorial Hospital and A. Finkl & Sons, Lincoln Park’s next 100 years will look much different than its previous 100. The LPCC enjoys a working relationship with Alderman Michele Smith (43rd) and Alderman Scott Waguespack (32nd) as well as many resident organizations. A collective approach to neighborhood development will ensure its long-term success.
