Purchasing Your City Sticker
Chicago law requires that residents of the city of Chicago who own a motor
vehicle must purchase an annual city sticker. Residents without a city sticker
will be subject to fines and other penalties under Chicago city law.
The city makes it convenient to purchase city stickers:
- The most convenient way to purchase your sticker is to return the renewal application, which arrives every year in the mail.
- You can purchase your vehicle sticker in person after June 1st at the Office of the City Clerk (121 N. LaSalle Street, Room 107 Chicago, IL 60602) in Room 107 of City Hall. All classes of city vehicle stickers can be purchased at the City Clerk's Satellite Facility located at 5301 S. Cicero - Suite 106.
- City stickers are also available at many currency exchanges and local banks, or online at the City of Chicago website.
- Passenger and Passenger (w/ late fee) stickers can also be purchased at Department of Revenue substations located throughout the city. You should be aware that purchasing your stickers at some of these institutions (excluding City Clerk and Revenue substations) will include a service fee in addition to the cost of the sticker.
