In 2004, local business and property owners got together to discuss options to maintain Lincoln Avenue as a clean and vibrant place to live and do business. They decided to establish a Special Service Area (SSA) to enhance and maintain the corridor. The Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce worked with these business and property owners to create an SSA and on November 4, 2005, the Chicago City Council passed the establishment ordinance for the Lincoln Avenue Special Service Area (SSA) #35. The SSA was originally established for 10 years and it was reconstituted (renewed) in December 2015 for another 15 years after a two year long community engagement process.
The Lincoln Avenue SSA includes all properties fronting Lincoln Avenue from Webster on the south to Diversey on the north, plus adjacent blocks of commercial and mixed-use properties. See the Lincoln Avenue SSA #35 Map for more details.
The mission of the Lincoln Avenue SSA is to beautify and enhance Lincoln Avenue through efficient use of funds levied to promote the district as a vibrant place to live and do business. The Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce is the Service provider for the Lincoln Avenue SSA.
