CAPS Meetings (chicago alternative policing strategy)

Beat community meetings are held regularly across Chicago’s 285 police beats, providing a platform for residents, stakeholders, and police to discuss neighborhood issues and collaborate on solutions using the CAPS five-step process. Police district councils

Chicago’s 22 District Councils work to improve policing, enhance accountability, and explore alternative approaches to public safety by fostering collaboration between police and residents. Each District Council consists of three elected members and holds monthly public meetings to address local safety concerns, develop community policing initiatives, and gather input on police policies.
