Topic: Meet Shannon Trotter – new Local Liquor Control Commissioner for the City of Chicago
CAPS stands for Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy. This successful program is a partnership between the Chicago Police Department (CPD) and local communities. CAPS, which began in 1993, “brings the police, the community, and other City agencies together to identify and solve neighborhood crime problems, rather than simply react to their symptoms after the fact.” Read more about CAPS at the CPD website.
The idea of forming a CAPS Hospitality Subcommittee for Lincoln Park businesses came as the direct result from feedback the LPCC received from bar and restaurant members who wanted an ongoing forum to discuss items relating to the hospitality industry. The businesses also wanted a way to receive information in a timely matter about issues such as city ordinances, state laws, liquor licenses, security and neighborhood concerns. This subcommittee helps establish better synergy and communication between the City of Chicago, Chicago Police Department and Lincoln Park bar and restaurant owners and managers.
