Friends of North Branch Park and Nature Preserve Community Meeting

October 23, 2018 | 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Please join Friends of North Branch Park and Nature Presere to learn how you and your organization can be helpful in acquiring land for a public park along the North Branch of the Chicago River.  We must acquire the land for a park for our community, for our city and for future generations of Chicagoans before this once-in a lifetime opportunity is gone.

We'd like to use this meeting to introduce ourselves. We are the “Friends of North Branch Park and Nature Preserve (FNBP),”  a grassroots community organization with a goal similar to yours; a Public Park to be owned by the People of Chicago. This park will bring much needed open space to our community as well as balance the coming density from the development of the North Branch Corridor along the Chicago River.  FNBP has hired an executive director and a social media firm; and has developed a social media campaign, conducted one-on-one new meetings with residents, local leaders, grassroots organizers and others vested in the North Branch Park. And now we turn to you to ask for your assistance as well as the support of your membership.

We need your participation and your ideas, and we will be discussing the following:

  • Links to our website:  on your webpage

  • Putting a petition for the park on your webpage

  • Window/Yard signs  and postcards

  • Letter and email campaign to Mayor Rahm Emanuel

  • Working all our relationships to gain awareness and support

  • Developing a video as to why we need a park

  • Thoughts on a questionnaire for mayoral candidates

  • Location

    DePaul Student Center
    2250 N. Sheffield, Room 325
    Chicago, IL 60614
  • RSVP
