Local artist Mayo Moreno will guide you through a gentle, beginner‑friendly watercolor session inspired by the colors, textures, and blooms of our outdoor space. You’ll explore simple techniques, play with organic shapes, and create your own nature‑infused artwork to take home.

After painting, settle into your mat for a deeply restorative Crystal Bowl Sound Bath led by Lisa Abat (owner of Namastate of Mind). The soothing frequencies of the bowls will help you unwind, integrate, and drop into a state of calm presence — the perfect complement to a afternoon of mindful creativity.

No painting experience is needed. All materials are provided. Just come as you are and enjoy a peaceful, art‑filled moment in community.

Mayo Moreno is a Colombian watercolor artist, illustrator, and educator based in Chicago, and the creator of Safari of Ideas. Her paintings invite viewers into a whimsical world where glowing forests, cozy cottages, animals, and botanical forms come alive in magical harmony. Rooted in her background in design studies in Argentina, Mayo combines technique with creative pedagogy. She has created over 70 watercolor tutorials and taught an international community of students, making the art of watercolor both inspiring and accessible.

She is the author of the upcoming book Cozy Watercolor Landscapes (2026), a step-by-step guide to painting serene and enchanting sceneries. Mayo has collaborated with brands including Anthropologie, JOANN Fabrics, Blick Art Materials, and Jaftex, bringing watercolor into workshops, creative events, and product collaborations.

Through Safari of Ideas, she continues her mission of inspiring others to pause, notice beauty, and reconnect with imagination—one brushstroke at a time.
