The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum invites community members to sprout change through its C3 Food Sustainability Leadership Training. This unique program focuses on the sustainability of the local food system, examining critical issues such as food access, sustainable agriculture, and reducing the greenhouse gas emissions associated with food production. Participants will also explore ways to support Chicago’s growing urban agriculture and food rescue initiatives.

Those interested are encouraged to attend an information session to learn more.

Participation Requirements:
  • Age 18+

  • Attend ONE information session (or watch a recorded session)

  • Submit a simple online application

  • While course content focuses on the city of Chicago, anyone in the region is welcome to apply

This 8-week course will be held in person at the Nature Museum this spring. Classes take place on Tuesday evenings, April 7–May 26, from 6:00–8:00 p.m., with an optional Community Hour from 5:00–6:00 p.m.

Community Hour provides an open meeting space for relaxing, mingling, or working.

The Nature Museum is committed to ensuring finances are never a barrier to participation. The training is offered on a pay-what-you-can basis. For those who are able, a suggested $125 course fee helps offset staff time and resources.

Information Session Dates:
  • Virtual on Wednesday, March 11 @ 12:00 p.m.

  • In person at the Nature Museum on Tuesday, March 17 @ 6:00 p.m.

  • Virtual on Thursday, March 19 @ 6:00 p.m.
