Joan W. Harris Visiting Music Scholar in Residence, The Westerlies at The Francis W. Parker School
May 11, 2022 | 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
New York-based brass quartet The Westerlies return to Parker for a reprise appointment as Parker’s fifth annual Joan W. Harris Visiting Music Scholars in Residence, following their video-based engagement with the students and the school last year due to COVID-19.
This year, the four childhood friends from Seattle, Washington, known for their artsy fusion of diverse types of music, from chamber music to jazz to Appalachian folk and beyond, will work in person with students and share their talents at the school in a live performance that will also be livestreamed to those who cannot join us in person.
The Joan W. Harris Visiting Music Scholars in Residence program was established to provide experiences for students to find inspiration, learn, appreciate and understand the transformative power of music. Previous Visiting Music Scholars include the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Music of the Baroque, Chicago Opera Theater and The Westerlies.
