Marillac St. Vincent Family Services’s Lumiere Gala

The new name, Lumière, previously the Fleur de Lis Ball, reflects the enduring legacy of the Daughters of Charity, who chose Chicago as the founding city for both the Marillac Social Center (1914) and the St. Vincent de Paul Center (1915). The word “Lumière,” which means "light" in French, is a reference to a profound vision experienced by St. Louise de Marillac in 1623. In this vision, she received her calling from God to dedicate her life to those in need—a calling that led to the establishment of the Daughters of Charity in Paris, France, alongside St. Vincent de Paul.

Marillac St. Vincent Family Services continues this commitment to service in Chicago, bringing light and hope to all those they serve. The love and compassion shared by their people and partners make it possible for them to provide life-changing services, guiding individuals towards a future where they can flourish and thrive.
