MEMENTO MORI Halloween Gala at International Museum of Surgical Science

MEMENTO MORI, the annual Halloween Gala at the International Museum of Surgical Science, returns for its fourth year with an evening of haunting elegance and eerie celebration. Hosted inside the Museum’s historic lakeside mansion, this unforgettable fundraiser invites guests to explore a night of surgical spectacle and atmospheric enchantment like no other event in the city.

Inspired by the Latin phrase memento mori—"remember that you must die"—the gala transforms this reflection on mortality into a vibrant celebration of life, art, and history. Guests will enjoy admission to Chicago’s most distinctive Halloween event, including four drink tickets (for guests 21+ with valid ID), dancing in the candlelit Hall of Immortals, ghoulish hors d’oeuvres and desserts by local culinary partners, tarot and palm readings, a spooky photo booth, a live DJ spinning eerie and electric beats, and a silent auction featuring premium prizes from Chicago businesses.

Costumes are highly encouraged—guests are invited to dress to distress. Each ticket includes four drink tickets, and quantities are limited. This event sells out every year, so early bird tickets are recommended.

The International Museum of Surgical Science offers one of Chicago’s most unique and hauntingly beautiful venues. As part of the evening, guests can explore its historic galleries, antique surgical tools, rare medical texts, and immersive exhibits while they celebrate.
