The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum recognizes that the holiday season often brings a surge in negative environmental impacts—from the waste generated by fast fashion and excessive packaging, to the fuel consumption associated with online shopping deliveries and travel between retail stores. In response, the Museum is offering guests an opportunity to reduce these impacts through its Sustainable Holiday Makers Market.

The Museum is inviting local makers whose products are created from natural, recycled, and upcycled materials to showcase and sell their work, helping guests discover sustainable ways to meet their holiday needs.

Vendors for 2025 include:

  • Restless Creatures – Hand-tooled ornaments, wall art, and garlands made of recycled and reclaimed materials

  • The Mulberry Rabbit – Handmade needle-felted wool ornaments, pins, snowmen, and gift items

  • Sturge Stitch – Beanies, scarves, bandanas, and other winter wear

  • Crystal Elise Art – Mixed-media art pieces made from reused materials, including collages, paintings, zines, and prints

  • Flip City / TT’s Funhouse – Acrylic paintings of Chicago, upcycled pottery, embellished jars, frames, and found objects

  • Story Lago – Upcycled miniatures, fairy houses, and displays

  • Feltwerker Upcycled Accessories – Bags made from secondhand materials

  • Maggie Joyce Repurposing – Upcycled wearable adornments and jewelry

  • Janie’s Art Journals – One-of-a-kind upcycled art and writing journals

  • Grelaine Art – Encaustic art crafted with natural materials

  • ReFelt – Clothing, jewelry, and household goods such as blankets, runners, and coasters made from repurposed and recycled wool and felt
