Join the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County and Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum on Saturday, May 22, at 11:30 am, for a virtual program showcasing our partnership to conserve the state-endangered Blanding’s turtles in DuPage Country's forest preserves.
You’ll get up close with native turtles who live in Chicago and surrounding counties’ natural areas and learn what makes these animals so unique.
Meet scientists and staff as they share their work in the field to ensure the future of Blanding’s turtles by searching for females in surrounding wetlands. Then, go behind the scenes at Willowbrook Wildlife Center as they incubate fertile eggs and at the Nature Museum where hatchlings are closely monitored and raised. Finally, join last year’s hatchlings and two-year-olds for a live meet-and-greet.
This virtual program is perfect for all ages. Tea with the Turtles is a free program, but registration is required.
Registrants will receive a link to the program hosted on Zoom, a coloring page and an origami activity to complete at home.
