Lincoln Park Zoo Welcomes Baby Monkey

Posted on January 9, 2017

DNA Info Chicago announced the arrival of a new baby monkey at Lincoln Park Zoo.

Curator of Primates Maureen Leahy told Ted Cox from DNA Info, “We’re excited for the newest member of the multi-generational colobus troop to interact with the entire family from juvenile to geriatric members. In fact, we’ve already observed the infant’s aunt and older sister briefly carrying the new infant, a species-typical behavior called alloparenting or ‘aunting behavior.'”

Mother and baby can be seen daily from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. in the Primate House. Click here for more information on Lincoln Park’s newest resident.
