The Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce has joined a coalition of businesses and their employees in response to the Restrictive Scheduling Ordinance.

The Chicago City Council is considering unprecedented Restrictive Scheduling legislation which will make Chicago the only city in the country penalizing employers in every industry who offer flexible scheduling options to their employees making $50,000 or less.

Every business and every employee encounters a certain amount of unpredictability. Flexible scheduling options are a necessity for Chicago workers and employers when unexpected issues arise, such as illnesses, childcare, doctor appointments, after school programs and other unplanned issues. Nevertheless, the Restrictive Scheduling ordinance being considered by the City Council places flexible scheduling options in Chicago at risk.

The Ordinance:

• Penalizes employers who offer employees flexible scheduling options
• Forces employees into a scheduling system that over half have rejected – and two-thirds do not think is broken
• Establishes roadblocks that discourage job creation and small business growth
• Places Chicago – and our businesses – at a competitive disadvantage
