Posted on March 23, 2018

The Performing Arts Studio (630 W. Webster) has a new spring session set to begin Monday, April 23. Six new classes for kids and adults interested in learning and enhancing their performing arts skills will be taught by world-renowned professional instructors ready to share their expertise as they teach based on a positive and constructive philosophy.

“At the Performing Arts Studio, we pride ourselves on offering an accessible and supportive community for performers of all skills levels,” says Víctor Maraña, Performing Arts Studio founder and director. “We are looking forward to helping our students achieve their personal goals and set new ones,” adds Maraña.

Kids classes include acrobatics and theatre. Acro combines the strength, flexibility, and control of gymnastics with the grace and elegance of dance. Students will begin with rolls, cartwheels, and handstands while gaining a core understanding of physicality. Theatre will build confidence, enhance social skills and help students gain a greater sense of empathy and compassion. At the end of the session students will be able to show their work in a performance for family and friends.

Adult classes include voice over, on-camera, guitar performance and voice. Voice Over focuses on getting students acquainted and comfortable with microphone techniques as they learn to unlock their natural expression. On Camera offers students the opportunity to gain experience to help them translate his or her work into an authentic and powerful screen performance.

Guitar Performance students will begin by learning elementary chords, chord progressions, and strumming patterns. Students will build upon these essential skills to learn songs and gain confidence while playing. Voice students will learn how to use his or her breath, diaphragm, spine, mouth and muscles in order to emit a sound that is powerful and expressive.
