Posted on January 26, 2018

The Performing Arts Studio, 630 W. Webster, announces its new spring session with classes beginning March 5, 2018. Performing Arts Studio brings world-renowned instructors to teach performance driven beginner, intermediate and advanced classes for students of all ages in acting, physical theatre/dance and music. Classes are geared to the serious performer in training, inspired amateur and curious youth exploring the performing arts.

After years of teaching vocal and physical acting techniques in Mexico, Performing Arts Studio founder and director, Víctor Maraña decided to bring his talents to Chicago.

“I am excited to bring a diverse array of performing arts instruction to our Lincoln Park studio,” Maraña said. “Training for the performing arts can begin at any age so we present a variety of opportunities for children, teens and adults to discover the arts,” adds Maraña.

All are invited to participate in the Performing Arts Studio Spring Sampler, an open call for free mini sessions set for Saturday, February 3 and Sunday, February 11. Free headshots will be available for adults. Kids and Teens will have the opportunity to enter a raffle to win a free class.

On Saturday, February 3, Kids and teens can participate in complimentary mini sessions including Improv, Theatre, Opera and Acrobatics classes starting at 11 a.m. Beginning at 1 p.m. adults can enjoy complimentary mini sessions including Keyboard & Live Performance, On Camera, Voice Over, Dialects, Devised Theatre and Clown.

On Sunday, February 11 open complimentary mini sessions for kids and teens begin at 11 a.m. with Imagination Station, Theatre, and Shakespeare. Adult mini sessions begin at 1 p.m. and include On Camera, Musical Theatre, Voice, Voice Over, Stage Combat and Clown.

“All of our instructors have been handpicked based on their real-world performance experience and desire to bring their joy for and background in teaching these skills to others,” shares Maraña. “We have created an Open Call Class style open house so performers in training, serious theater enthusiasts and of course parents with kids and teens can have a chance to visit our unique space and meet our real world working teachers while they sample our performance-based classes,” he adds.

New spring session begins March 5 with special ‘opening rates’ available through February 15th.
