Updates on North Branch Industrial Corridor

Posted on August 11, 2016

Last night, the Chicago Department of Planning and Development (DPD) held a public meeting at UI Labs regarding the North Branch Industrial Corridor. Deputy Commissioner Eleanor Gorski from DPD presented the city’s short-term and long-term plans for the entire corridor at the meeting.

A press release from DPD states, “The goals of the City’s Industrial Corridor modernization efforts are intended to unleash the potential of select industrial areas for advanced manufacturing and technology-oriented jobs while reinforcing industrial activities in other areas; maintain and improve the freight and public transportation systems that serve industrial users in key job centers; support new job growth and local job opportunities, including residents in “at risk” communities; and leverage the unique, physical features of local industrial corridors to improve viability and foster demand.”
