About the program:
Everyone who has ever seen a puffin falls in love with them. If nature lovers truly care about the mounting threats to them and whether they’ll be around for our grandchildren and great-grandchildren, then they must also care about those families living with environmental justice, including southeast Chicago. The destiny of a beautiful bird is directly bonded to dumped-on families. They are bonded to the speed we curb the fossil emissions that scorch the planet and sear the lungs.
About the speaker:
Derrick Z. Jackson is a national award-winning news, sports, environmental and social justice journalist, author, and photographer. In more than 45 years with the Boston Globe, Newsday, and as an independent writer, Jackson has been a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and the National Headliners Awards. He has earned numerous awards throughout his career from a diverse group of journalism associations.
