Opening Night of Hamlet at the Greenhouse Theater Center
September 29, 2023 | 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM
Shakespeare Blood Oath returns to the Greenhouse Theater for a limited run of their brand new production of Hamlet, Shakespeare’s classic tale of murder, revenge, and … indecision? While the play is one of Shakespeare’s most familiar, the company is attempting to bring a fresh perspective to it through an original cut of the script, an essentialized production, and a focus on making the text understandable and accessible while remaining faithful to the Bard’s words.
All shows are produced on a shoestring budget with an all-volunteer group of actors doing it for the love of performance and the opportunity to play a wide-range of Shakespeare’s plays and parts. Previous shows have been put up in a backyard, online, and at a small comedy theater. Last year, SBO brought Timon of Athens, one of Shakespeare’s least performed plays, to the Greenhouse Theatre and performed it to sold-out audiences. Other productions include Midsummer Night’s Dream, Taming of the Shrew, and As You Like It.
