October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Currently there are more than 3.8 million breast cancer survivors in the United States. By the end of this year, an estimated 297,790 more women will be diagnosed making it the most common cancer in American women. Of those, more than 10,000 will be in Illinois.

The good news is that breast cancer has an 89% survivability rate of 5+ years, making it one of the most survivable cancers. And when detected early that number goes even higher.
